Peter Dek, son of Adrian and Elizabeth Dek, was born on November 14, 1862 at Waukesha, Wis and passed away at Arnolds Park, Iowa on March 20, 1949, having reached the age of 86 years, 3 months and 6 days.
His early childhood was spent in Waukesha, where he attended public school. He came to Sutherland as a young lad, residing here until 1899. He attended Buena Vista college and Iowa State College at Ames.
On November 1, 1899, he was united in marriage to May Gaskell at Sutherland. They then moved to Platte, S.Dak. and made their home there for 30 years.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church and of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. He was in the lumber business and banking business for 20 years at Platte. For the past 18 years he had lived at Arnolds Park, Iowa. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, as well as 5 nephews, 3 nieces and other relatives and friends.
