Mr. Alton Eugene "Jim" Chatman, 83, retired carpenter and farmer and resident of the Stiversville Community for over 50 years, died Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Barry Farris officiating. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

The Maury County native was the son of the late John Chapman and Bessie Renfro Chapman Brown. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of Stiversville Church of Christ.
Survivors include a grandson, Anthony Chatman of Murfreesboro; a sister, Mary Ellen Staggs of Columbia; special friend, Eddie Mae Mash of Columbia and seven nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Chatman; a sister, Minnie Goar and three brothers, Russ Chapman, Leon "Redbud" Chapman and Willie Carter Brown, Jr.
Pallbearers are Ray Staggs, Billy Staggs, David Staggs, Jimmy Staggs, Clarence Lewis, Wayne Foster and Tim Goar.
