Born Jan. 29, 1926, in the Village of Rimerton, Armstrong County, he
was the son of Charles and Mildred Butler Vasbinder.
Mr. Vasbinder was employed for 25 years by Conrail and for many years
worked at the Sligo tipple for C&K Coal Co.
He was a Protestant, an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are five sons, Garry Vasbinder, Dick Vasbinder and wife,
Karen, Don Vasbinder and wife, Sherry, and Jerry Vasbinder, all of
Rimersburg, and Chuck Vasbinder and wife, Jodi, of Widnoon; seven
grandchildren, Zachary, Alison, Cory Tyler, Christina, Mellissa and
Tori; and two great-grandchildren.
He also is survived by one sister, Betty Watson of Elkhart, Ind.; and
two brothers, Jesse Vasbinder of Rimersburg and Hank Vasbinder of
Cowansville.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Vasbinder was preceded in death by a
brother, Richard "Fluke" Vasbinder; a sister, Caroline Smail; and a
granddaughter, Kara Vasbinder.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in
the Varner Funeral Home of Rimersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home
with the Rev. Mark Deeter, pastor of the Wildcat Wesleyan Methodist
Church near Rimersburg, officiating.
Interment will follow in Rimersburg Cemetery.
