Pvt. Harold Snell was a member of A Company, 194th Tank Battalion. He fought on Bataan and became a Prisoner of War on April 9, 1942. He took part in the death march out of Bataan and was held as a POW at Camp O'Donnell. He died there while a POW.

The following obituary was printed when his remains were returned home.

All business was suspended and flags were flown at half mast on Thursday afternoon, October 22, 1948, as the Boy River Community gathered at the Log Chapel to pay final tribute to the memory of Pvt. Harold Snell. Reinterment services were conducted by Rev, Gordon Hanson and full military honors were accorded by the American Legion post of Boy River and Remer.Pvt. Harold Snell was born Feb. 25, 1916 at Remer, Minnesota. He entered the U.S. Army in 1941, serving with Captain Miller's Tank Corps on Bataan. On May 7, 1942 he was reported as missing in action, and on May 22, 1944, he was officially reported as having died in the service of his country. He was 28 years of age at his death. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson of Boy River, and two sisters, etc. (Cass County Independent, Oct. 29, 1948)
