Jon Robert Woodard, PFC-E2, United States Marine Corps Regular. A young man of 22 years was taken from us in July 1968 while serving his country in the Vietnam War. Jon was intelligent, funny, and handsome. He was well liked and had many friends. After graduating High School in his home town, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and was shipped to San Diego, California. His tour began on July 28, 1967. Jon was scheduled to come home after his tour of duty and when he had only 2 weeks left, he met his untimely death at the hands of an enemy sniper. His father had already purchased his airline tickets to come home, when he learned of his son's death. Jon Robert Woodard recieved a Purple heart medal. His name appears on the Vietnam Wall Memorial Panel 53W-Line 25.
