LITTLE RIVER – Ferne Alton, 85, died June 27, 1988, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River. Born Ferne Huling May 12, 1903, at Osgood, she married Lee Alton, May 14, 1927, at Lyons. He died in 1968. She was a retired schoolteacher, and was a resident of Little River since 1927.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Little River, United Methodist Women, Cornerstone Chapter 310 Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, the Senior Center and was a Keystone Sunday School teacher.

Survivor: daughter Arah Lee Briscoe, Little River; brother, Dr. Maurice Huling, Ventura, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Grant Davis. Burial will be at Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Williamson Funeral Home, Little River. Memorials may go the church or Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River.
