Obit: 10 June 1902 - MRS. E.L.REED DIEDS AT HOME
Beloved Woman of Tobaccoville Section to Be Buried Tuesday. Mrs. Permelia Melinda Reed, widow of the late E. L. Reed, died at her home on Tobaccoville, route 1, this morning at 5:45 o'clock after an illness of several weeks. She was enjoying unusually good health until about five weeks ago when she became ill. She had been confined to bed for the past three weeks.
Funeral services will be conducted from the home Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. G. B. Ferree, pastor of the Tobaccoville Methodist Protestant Church, of which Mrs. Reed had been a member for many years. Rites will also be held at the church at 3:30 preceding interment in the church graveyard.
Mrs. Reed was born September 17, 1845, daughter of the late Jonathan and Nancy Waller Speas. She had lived in Forsyth county all her life and was widely knnown for interest and work in church, school and civic affairs of her community.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Andrews of Mocksville, Mrs. C. M. McKaughan of Winston-Salem; one brother, Squire Henry Speas of Tobaccoville, route 1; and a half-brother, Jesse E Speas, also of Tobaccoville, route 1.
The following have been named pallbearers for the funeral: Charlie Watts, Walter Speas, Luther Kearney, Vernon Reed, J. I. Speas and Norman C. Speas.
The family has requested that no flowers be sent.
