He is survived by his wife of fifty five years, Iris Ward and daughter Nancy W. (and husband Larry) Bessinger of Elberton; son George A. (his wife Young Ae {pronounced as a long A}) Ward, III of Seoul South Korea; granddaughter Corrie Elise Bessinger of Commerce; and sisters Laura W. Smith of Elberton, Mary B. Munnel of Athens.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7th at 11:00 a.m., in Eliam United Methodist Church with remains to lie in state at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Wes Privett officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials be made to Eliam UMC, located at 2130 Dr George Ward Rd, Elberton.
