WHITNEY - Harold H. Alam, 80, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at an Arlington hospital.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Fort Graham Baptist Church, Whitney. Dr. Allan Lane will officiate. Burial: Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Vistiation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Marshall & Marshall in Whitney.

Mr. Alam was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Winnebago, Neb. He grew up in South Sioux City and graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1938. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an electronic technician mate third class. He married Mary Elizabeth Lindsey on Nov. 2, 1946; she preceded him in death June 5, 1999.

Mr. Alam lived in Garland from 1968 to 1982 before moving to Whitney. He was an electrical engineer for NASA, RCA, Convair and LTV before retiring in 1969. He owned and operated Baskin-Robbins stores for 10 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of American Legion Post 522.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Sue Alam, on Dec. 16, 1971.

Survivors: Son, Tom Alam of Lompoc, Calif.; daughter, Alisa Hunter and husband, Todd, of Arlington; sister, Dorothy Taylor of Dallas; grandson, Tate Hunter of Arlington; niece, Kim McGehee; and nephew, Dr. Dennis Taylor. Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Whitney, (254) 694-2206
