Bertha Marcus, age 80, of the Tapoco community in Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC. She was born in Monroe County, TN, to the late Oscar and Martha Casey Farley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Marcus; her son, Ray Marcus; her sister, Juanita Farley; and her brother, Erskine Farley.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol Odom and Debbie Jones, both of Tapoco; her sons, Ira Joe Marcus and Roy Marcus, both of Tapoco; her brother, Tony Farley of Townsend, TN; her sisters, Jimmie Sue Cook of Tellico, TN, Georgia Ruth Williams of Tapoco, Azalee Birchfield of Chattsworth, GA, Sara Nell Cook of Maryville, TN, and Johnnie V. Kauker of Alcoa, TN; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 4 at Meadow Branch Baptist Church with the Revs. Onley Williams, Tommy Boring, and Bo Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Calderwood Cemetery, Calderwood, Blount Co., Tennessee.
