Nancy Kelley, 95, died at 6:10 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton where she had been under Hospice care for the last two years. She was born on May 19, 1913 in Gallatin County, Illinois to James and Hattie (Blakely) Crawford. On August 11, 1932, she married Walter O. Kelley. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1973. She retired from W.T. Grant Co. in 1963 where she had worked since 1949 as a department manager. She was a member of the Alton Rebekah Lodge #475. Also preceding her in death were two sisters; Wilma Rexford and Della Howard, and a brother, William H. Crawford. Surviving Alton relatives are a niece, Carol Powers, and nephew, William Crawford, Jr. and his wife Sandy. Great-nieces and nephews include Dana King, Greg Powers, Noel Powers, and Lauren Crawford as well as great-great nieces and nephews; Megan and Makenzie King, Adam Powers, and Katie Powers. Additional surviving nieces and nephews include Janice Howard, Charles and James and their wives and children all of Waco, Texas.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be in Alton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

NOTE: Nancy was a former resident at Fountains IV in Godfrey, Illinois, which is an Independent and Assisted Living center for seniors. I took care of her before she moved to Rosewood Care Center.
