In 1994, she graduated from Jersey Shore High school. She received her associate degree in mass communications from the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport in 1997 and in 1999 she graduated from Shippensburg University with a degree in speech communication.
For many years, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore, and the Antes Fort chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
An active member of her community, she was a member of the Penn Ridge Chamber of Commerce and the Olde Towne Association of Perkasie. She was the owner and operator of Abbey-By-Design in Perkasie, and was employeed by the Reporter Newspaper in Landsdale.
