J. K. McMahan
J. K. McMahan, 78, of Anderson, died at his home, 209 Campbell Street, yesterday morning at 7:25 o’clock after an extended illness.
A native of Forest City, North Carolina, Mr. McMahan was born January 6, 1862, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Barney McMahan. For a number of years he was a resident of Greenville and at one time was overseer of the card room at Judson Mill. For the last nine years he had lived in Anderson.
His wife, who before her marriage was Miss Mary E. Bryant, died in this city in 1927.
Mr. McMahan was a member of Toxaway Methodist Church of Anderson and also a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are four daughters, Miss Barney McMahan, Anderson; Mrs. J. B. Wilbanks, Greenville; Mrs. Clarence Black, Kings Mountain, North Carolina; and Mrs. W. H. Dillard, Enoree; two sons, H. G. McMahan, Greenville; and W. G. McMahan, Chester, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mrs. Corrie Elmore, Forest City, North Carolina, and Mrs. Doris Hopper, Harris, North Carolina He also leaves 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from Toxaway Methodist Church in Anderson at 11 o’clock tomorrow morning. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.
Until the hour of the service, the body will remain at the home of his daughter, Miss Barney McMahan, 209 Campbell Street, Anderson.
