ALBERT—Lester R Albert, 68, Susquehanna,Pa died suddenly Friday morning. He was a retired Army colonel having served In World War 1 as a first lieutenant in France and Germany and in World War 2 as a colonel for nine years in the Infantry, four of which were served in England, North Africa, Sicily, Sardinia and Italy. The Legion of Merit and Commendation of Ribbon are among the 12 service citations that he held. He had been a high school principal, the owner of a shoe store and after his return from World War 2 was in the Insurance business. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Susquehanna, a Sunday school teacher and a member of its official board. A member of the executive board of the Susquenango Council Boy Scouts of America, a holder of its highest award the Silver Beaver. A member of the Stone Bridge Lions Club, a member and treasurer of the Susquehanna Consolidated School Authority, member of the Board of Directors of the Susquehanna County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He was also a member of the American Legion in which he was a past commander and district commander. He was secretary and past master of Canawacta Lodge 343 F&AM, past high priest of Susquehanna Chapter 276, past commander of St. Andrews Commandry 27 and a member of the Shrine, Irem Temple, Wikes-Barre, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Helen Albert; two sons, Lester R Albert, Jr, Ramsey, NJ and Dr Donald G Albert, Birmlngham, MI; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Edith Robinson, Los Angeles, CA; a brother, William Albert, Sodus Point; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. The body was removed to the Perrlne Funeral Chapel, Main St, Susquehanna, where friends may call.

A Masonic service will be held Sunday evening at 1 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2pm from the Susquehanna First Methodist Church with the Rev Arthur Dean, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev George Youngs,Binghamton, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Susquehanna.
