Esmond was born with the name, "Harry Esmond Jack" in Hampton Court, Middlesex, England.
He was the son of Richard George Jack, a physician and surgeon and his wife Mary Rynd Jack.
Henry was baptised on 22nd February 1870, at the Church of St Mary, Hampton Court, Middlesex, England.
Henry was a famous British actor and Playwright.
He began his career as an actor in London in 1889, where he was in several successful comedies. He starting writing plays, usually comedies, while in his early twenties. These plays were very popular with the themes of light-hearted romance, which really appealed to the audience of that day.
Henry's plays were also well preformed in the USA, where nine of his plays were produced on Broadway between 1899 and 1907. The Broadway production, "Eliza Comes to Stay", Esmond traveled to New York to appear alongside his wife actress Eva Moore and the popular actor Leslie Banks. Henry's performance proved to be the greatest success of his career.
Esmond continued writing, acting and traveling until his sudden death from pneumonia in Paris, France.
He was the father of the actress Jill Esmond who was once married to Laurence Olivier and they had a son Tarquin Olivier.
