PULASKI - Effie Armstrong Holcomb Brewer, 93, of Pulaski departed this earthly life to return to her heavenly home early Thursday morning, June 17, 2004 in the Pulaski Community Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in West Virginia on November 10, 1910 and she was the daughter of the late Lewis & Maggie Jones Armstrong. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cooper O. Brewer, her beloved son, Jimmy Dale Holcomb and by four brothers and six sisters. She was a nurse at the old Pulaski General Hospital and Pulaski Community Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pulaski. Remaining to love and cherish her memory are her daughter & son-in-law, Shirley & Bob Smith, Dublin; grandsons & spouses, Bob & Debbie Holcomb, Peachtree City, GA, Don & Alice Holcomb, Lynchburg, Tom & LaJeannia Holcomb, Pulaski, Mike & Susan Holcomb, Pulaski, Grey & Denise Bolden, Pulaski, Jeff & Luann Bolden, Pulaski; sister, Geneva A. Harmon, Belpre, OH; beloved daughter-in-law, Catherine Holcomb Sowers, Pulaski; step-grandchildren & spouses, Tina & David Trice, Richmond, Jon & Monica Smith, Mililani, HI; 12 great-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Friday evening from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 1652, Pulaski, VA 24301. The family will be meeting at the residence of the daughter & son-in-law, 6656 Dunkard Road, Dublin. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
