He married Johnnie McKinney when they were both 28 yrs. old. Less than a year later he developed osteomyelitis as a result of an injury sustained in high school. He received treatment for several months, but did not respond well and passed away in March of 1943. When my father received the news at work that Jack was approaching death, he ran several miles to his home to be with him.
Although I never knew you, Uncle Jack, you meant so much to my Dad. Be blessed in your heavenly home.
Many thanks to Catharine Howard for creating the original memorial for Jack and photographing the headstone.
