Services for Wayne R. Berkshire, 74, of Royal Center will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Homes, Royal Center Chapel. He died at 4:40 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born on August 9, 1934 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Martin R. "Pig" and Margaret Ann (Conn) Berkshire. On January 10, 1953 he married Vivian Y. Mills, she survives.
Wayne was a 1952 Royal Center High School Graduate.
He was a member of Royal Center United Methodist Church. He enjoyed singing with Church Men United, he was an avid IU Basketball fan and he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, mushroom and arrowhead hunting.
Wayne formerly worked at RCA in Monticello and he retired from Small Parts, Logansport in 2000. He was also a farmer.
Surviving include his wife, Vivian Y. Berkshire of Royal Center, son, Kenneth W. Berkshire and wife Mary of Bloomfield, daughters, Rhonda L. Sinclair and husband Robert of Brownsburg and Tina M. Ervin and husband Matthew of Logansport, sister Martha E. Buchs of Flippin, Arkansas, grandchildren, Martin P. Berkshire and wife Amy of Ft. Wayne, James W. Berkshire and wife Kara of Solsberry and Yvonne M. Turner of Brownsburg.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Sandra K. Berkshire, brother, Joseph L. Berkshire and sister, Barbara A. Bowles.
