Hewen Shaler Spencer

Hewen Shaler Spencer, 70, of Martin, died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
Born October 27, 1927 at Eastern, he was the son of the late Alex and Katherine "Kate" Turner Spencer. He was a retired construction worker, formerly employed by Akers and Akers Construction Company and a member of the First Assembly of God Church at Martin, since 1990.

Survivors include his wife, Arnitha Howell Spencer, four sons, James H. Spencer of Martin, Anthony R. Spencer of Hilliard Ohio, Phillip Spencer of Eastern, and David Spencer of Indiana; three daughters, Pamela K. Combs, Chanda S. Dingus and Vicki R. Spencer, all of Martin; three brothers, Ralph Spencer of Eastern, French Spencer of Vermilion, Ohio, and Alex Spencer of Paintsville; two sisters, Nancy Bailey of Langley and Agnes Dilling of Southgate; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 4, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, with clergyman Lori Vannucci officiating. Burial will be in the family cemetery at Eastern, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin. Serving as pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
