William O. Hubbard, 89, 1314 Breckenridge Road, Bedford, died at 5:10 a.m. Friday July 6, 2007, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born June 14, 1918, in Lawrence County, he was the son of George Otto and Jennie (Brim) Hubbard. He married Jewell Elmore and she preceded him in death on November 27, 1991. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, stationed in the Pacific. After the war, he worked at Rostone Corp. in Lafayette. He was a salesman at Honeycrust Bakery for many years. He established and operated Hubbard TV in Bedford for a number of years. He later developed and co-owned with Russell Owen, Sr., Lakeside Estates in Mitchell. He was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the La-Or-Ma Shrine Club, Bedford Masonic Lodge No. 14 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis where he was a 32nd degree Mason, Murat Shrine Temple in Indianapolis and American Legion Gillen Post No. 33 of Bedford. Survivors include one son, Larry Hubbard and wife Jackie of Brownsburg; one daughter, Karen Baker of Oolitic; two granddaughters, Kimberly Hubbard of Mooresville and Holly Baker Cunha of Greenwood; one grandson, Scott Hubbard and wife Kristy of Valparaiso; three great-grandsons, Logan and Luke Hubbard of Valparaiso and William Cunha of Greenwood; and three sisters, Mildred Weddle, Maxine Henderson and Cleda Prow all of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one sister, Marie Turpen; four brothers, George, Wayne, Wendell Ross and Cletus Hubbard; and one son-in-law, Jerry Baker. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday from the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with the Rev. Charlie Scott and the Rev. Bob Coursen officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion.
