Ada Dell, twin daughter of Sylvester and Jane Dyer Crandall, was born December 2, 1884 in Johnson Township, Clark County, Illinois, and slipped away to heaven on February 26, 1946, at the age of 61 years, 2 months, 24 days. She was converted on January 19, 1909 at Willow Creek Church during a revival conducted by Rev. Chalky Bailiff, and in a few days united with the Zoar Methodist Church under the pastorate of Rev. C. W. Gant, remaining a member until death. On November 24, 1917 she was united in marriage to Robert Crutchfield of Shamrock, Oklahoma, in which city they resided several months, later moving to Wynona, Oklahoma, where their only child, Duane, was born December 26, 1919. Later they came back to the old Crandall home and remained there until 1927, when they moved to Hoguetown where they were living when the husband passed away May 13, 1928. In 1934 she and her son again went back to the old home, remaining there until they moved to Martinsville in 1943.

Members of the family who survive are the son Duane, a sister, Mrs. Avesta Lingafelter of Annapolis, three brothers, Ira of Sonora, California, Otis of Plymouth, Michigan, and Cam of Martinsville; an aunt, Mrs. Florence Miller of Corydon, Indiana; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. The father, mother, two brothers, Alva and Lawrence, and three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Neibarger, Cora and Ida preceded her in death.

"The lights are all out in mansions of clay,
The curtains are drawn, for the dweller's away,
She silently slipped o'er the threshold of night,
To make her abode in the City of Light."
