She was the daughter of the late Johnny and Florrie Hartgrove and the widow of the late Daniel Brown. She was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Hartgrove; one daughter, Dorothy Jackson; and one grandson, Ronnie Jackson.
She attended school in Faber, Virginia. She retired as a private cook and housekeeper after 48 years. She accepted the Lord at a young age, where she became a member at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Faber, Virginia.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted family, a daughter, Virginia Gray of Charlottesville, Virginia; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; a devoted nephew, the Reverend Edward Hartgrove; and a host of nieces, nephews, other beloved relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Albemarle Street, Charlottesville, Virginia, with the Reverend Doctor R.A. Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Riverview Cemetery.
