I am so grateful for the sponsorship of Pa's site by my longtime findagrave friend, Patty Valentino".

Called Pa with great affection by his grandchildren.
The best grandfather anyone could ask for.
A long time Cotton Belt Railroader.
Grandfather of 11.
Great grandfather of 18.

I grew up where I could see my grandparents back door from my front door. So, I saw my grandparents every day. Memories that will last me a lifetime.

Married 17 Jul 1917.

He was ambidextrious and could send out teletype with either hand or both simultaneously.

Son Curtis was head of Operations for the Northeast United States for the Northern Pacific RR at the same time son Steve was head of Operations for the Southeast United States for the Southern Pacific RR.

Believed to be a 2nd cousin, 4 times removed of legendary frontiersman Christopher Houston "Kit" Carson.

Many thanks to David and Elaine Shelton for providing the headstone photograph.

I so enjoyed going down to the Cotton Belt building with him if he had to go in on Saturdays. Enjoyed keeping him company when he wanted to go over "the county line", which wasn't too often.

Died at the Cotton Belt Hospital in Texarkana after having suffered a heart attack.

When our daughter-in-law asked us how we went to be referred to by their first born, Grandpa, Gramps, what?, without hesitation, I said I wanted to be called Pa.

Not like they did back in nineteen fifty four
They got computers and diesels and things
The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore
