WWI US Navy veteran. Enlisted May 1914 in Washington, D.C. as part of the D.C. Naval Militia, and called into service in April 1917. Sailed for foreign duty in July 1918 on the Battleship Arkansas. With Grand Fleet in the North Sea, July to November 1918; Supply Station Aberdeen, Scotland, November 1918 to April 1919; Supply Station Liverpool, England from April to October 1919. Returned to U.S. on the Steamship Siboney, landing at New York. Received an Honorable discharge in October 1919 at the rank of Lieutenant J.G., U.S.N.R.F.
