He was born Feb. 9, 1919, in Waynesville, a son of William and Bertha Shifflet Rich. He married Florence (Pierce) Rich on Dec. 3, 1944, in Atlanta. She preceded in him in death June 16, 2001.
Mr. Rich served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He is survived by two sons, Roland (Pam) Rich, Cassville, Mo., and Charles (Shirley) Rich, Alamogordo, N.M.; one daughter, Mary Ann (Ron) Dempsay, Anchorage, Alaska; three grandchildren, Lance (Missy) Dempsay, Kirksville, Mo.; Harold (Angie) Rich, Wheaton, Mo.; and Tia (Rob) Ginter, Estes Park, Colo.; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Teeter, Evan Ginter, Nolan Dempsay, Mason Ginter, Paxton Dempsay, Camden Dempsay and Alaina Ginter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
