GLADYS IRENE BOONE SPARKS

CHARLOTTE - Gladys Irene Boone Sparks, 91,
died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002 at Southminister
Retirement Community. A native of Mitchell
County, she was the daughter of the late
Edward and Docia Jarrett Boone. She was also
preceded in death by one daughter,Marguerite
Elliott; and one grandson, Jeffery Uber. A
member of Myers Park Baptist Church, she and
her husband owned Mitchell Distributing
Company. She was a member of Myers Park
Country Club and a great supporter of
classical music.

Survivors include her husband, Romulus B
Sparks of Southminister; one son, Michael
Sparks of Fairview; three daughters,
Geraldine Emmert, Martha Arcilesi and
Anita Uber, all of Charlotte; a sister,
Laura Lou Willis of Spruce Pine; nine
grandchildren; and 11 great grand
children.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday
at Harry & Bryant Company "Chapel in the
Oaks". Rev. Joseph Aldrich officiated.
Burial followed in Sharon Memorial Park.
The family received friends from 1 p.m.
until the service hour, and from 4-5 p.m.
at Southminister Retirement Community.
