Death of William Bays from Pneumonia at State Hospital in Binghamton - William Bays of Virgil, who was on April 20 declared insane and was taken to the state hospital at Binghamton, died there at 7:30 o'clock yesterday morning after a week's illness from pneumonia. His age was 60 years. His sister, who was also confined in the same institution knew of his Illness and was very much affected by his death. The remains were brought to Cortland last night and taken to the home of O.J. Bays in Virgil at whose house the funeral will be held at 11 o'clock tomorrow morning. It will be remembered that on March 30 Bays shot Sheriff Brainard in the leg while he was trying to arrest him. He was brought to Cortland, adjudged insane, and taken to Binghamton.
