James William (Bill) Moore, age 83, of 3011 Roopville-Veal Road,
Roopville, Ga., died Monday, May 11, 1987, in a Carrollton hospital.
He was born in Randolph County, Ala., son of the late Hamilton (Hamp) Moore
and Becky Smith Moore. He had been in the Veal community since 1946, moving
there from Heard County. He was a member of the Prospect Congregational
Methodist Church in Randolph County and was a cattle farmer and for many years
a merchant in Veal.
Two sons preceded Mr. Moore in death, Garvin B. Moore, who was a casualty in
World War II in 1944, and Major Moore, who died in 1950.
Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Ina Gore; four daughters, Lola
Payne, Elsie Brand, Louise Eady, and Christine Ivey, all of Veal; a son Winford
Moore of Veal; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-
grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Nancy Hale of LaGrange.
Services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, from Veal
Congregational Methodist Church, with the Rev. Leron Murphy officiating,
assisted by the Rev. Glenn Brand. Interment was in the Veal cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason Moore, Randle Ivey, Aubin Cumbie Jr., Joe Bob
McManus, Jesse Payton, Dairy Payton, David Eady, Rodney Brand and Calvin Payne.
Grandsons and great-grandsons served as honorary pallbearers.
Martin and Hightower West Center Street Chapel of Carrollton was in charge
of arrangements.
