Financial adviser for 27 years to the late Bishop James Griffin in the chancery office of the Springfield diocese. He represented the diocese in many civic organizations in the social welfare field.
He was also diocesan president of the St. Vincent de Paul society, a post which he held until his death. Came to the U. S. from Jamaica as a young man. He worked with construction firms in the southeast until 1914, following the death of his wife Rosa J. Jones, when he moved to Joliet where he met Bishop Griffin.
Survived by brother Christopher Jones, sister Mrs. Keith Williams, both of Kingston, Jamaica, and one nephew, Harold Newport Magnan of Toronto, Canada.
