Vadis L. Elbert, 77, Rainier, died Jan. 1, 1981, in a local hospital. Mrs. Elbert was born Aug. 26, 1903, in Galena, Kansas. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Senior Citizens of Vernonia.

She is survived by two daughters, Leona M. Dixson of Blaine, Tenn., and Betty J. Nelson of Vanderhoff, B.C.; seven sons: Daniel J. Elbert Jr. of Wittmann, Ariz., and Louis Elbert, Robert Elbert, Clarence Elbert, William Elbert, Alvin Elbert and James Elbert, all of Rainier; a sister, Goldie Slaughter of Goodman, Mo,; 46 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Daniel J. Elbert Sr., preceded her in death.

Rosary will be recited at 7pm Sunday in the Haakinson-Groulx Family Mortuary, Rainier. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11am Monday in the Church of the Nativity, Rainier, with Father Philip Hemming officiating.

Interment will be at the Woodbine Cemetery, Rainier.
