Manley Nathaniel Kilburn died at his home in this village at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening after a short illness. He was the son of Nanthaniel and Dalania Kilburn and was born in the town of Mansfield February 8, 1862. He was married to Lizzie C. Gardner of Conewango, October 14, 1882. To this union were born five children Mrs. Lula K. Stoughton of Napoli; Marion G. Kilburn of Little Valley; G Wilbur Kilburn of Machias, and Manley and Nathaniel Stanton at home, all of whom besides his wife and six granddaughters survive; also a sister, Mrs. M. C. Frew, a brother Porter C. Kilburn of North Valley, and an adopted brother, Merritt Chase of Elkdale.
Mr. Kilburn was a successful school teacher for twenty years. He was educated at Ten Brock Academy at Franklinville and Chamberlain Institute at Randolph. About ten years ago he retired from his profession of teaching, and moved onto his large farm in Little Valley, which he has managed successfully since. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Cattaraugus County Bank, was a member of the Congregational church, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of East Randolph, and was a charter member of Emerald Grange 789 of Elm Creek, New York. Funeral services are being held from the home this afternoon at 2 p.m. in charge of Reverend J. Brent Cook of the M. E. church. Interment at the Little Valley cemetery.
