Willard was son of Zenas Bailey & Comfort Tabor Bailey, spouse of Mary A.Phinney Bailey, father of two daughters, Lucy Louisa( Bailey) Tallman & Elizabeth Eletha (Bailey) Stevenson/Bayzarian..He was one nine children.He enlisted in 1 August 1862 in N.Dansville,NY Livingston county , Union ,Private, age 28yrs. Company C 6th Cavalry Regiment. He has a GAR marker by his grave. He received a disabliity discharge from Compnay C, 6th Cavalry Regiment on 28 February 1863 at Philadelphia,Pa. His obit says he died at his home on Woodworth Street, on Monday, March 7, 1892, from the effects of injuries received during the late war, at the age of fifty-eight. Mr. Bailey emlisted in Company C. Seventh Regiment,N.Y. Cavalry, which was raised in Allegany county, in 1862 and was a member of Wm. Moyer Post of this village. The funeral service at the house on Wednesday afternoon, was conducted by the Rev. George Vernor, the Post attending in a body accompanied the remains to the grave, where they laid him with the beautiful ritual of the order. The deceased leaves, to mourn their loss, a widow and two daughters, Mrs. D.F. Tallman, of Stanton, and Mrs. F.C. Stevenson. *Note-this article says the Seventh Regiment-but from all records I have-it was the 6th Regiment. Family member-Judy S. of Pa. His wife, Mary. Phinney/Bailey is also buried next to him.
