James Raymond BARKER, 69, of 430 W. Second St., died at 6:20 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Hospital, where he had been a patient for seven weeks. He had been in failing health two months.
He was born Dec. 29, 1915 in Marshall County to Irvin and Hazel COLTER BARKER, and was a lifetime resident of Marshall and Fulton counties. He was married May 2, 1937 in Rochester to Alice Rose BENSMAN, who died Jan. 3, 1981. On Oct. 15, 1983 in Rochester, he was married to Martha J. ZEIGER, who survives. He was retired from Farm Bureau elevators at Kewanna and Rochester, and had worked at the former Crystal Dairy in Rochester. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Surviving with the wife are a step-daughter, Mrs. Lonnie (Nancy) CRIPE, Rt. 4, Rochestr; three step-sons, John ZEIGER, Rt. 3, Rochester, and Thomas and Richard [ZEIGER],
both of Rochester; nine step-granchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Gaylord (Esther) ZUMBAUGH and Mable HARSH, both of Argos; Mrs. Dennis (Mary) FOOR, Rochester, and Mrs. Paul (Edith) HARPER, Rt. 3, Rochester, and nieces and nephews. Two daughters, two sons, two grandchildren, a brother and a step-daughter preceded in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Richard PUETZ officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester Citizens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Foster & Good funeral Home in Rochester from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
