Grandma Bowling died while attending the evening services at the Alabama City Church of God. ( See newspaper article.)
Mary Frances Hughes was born on July 18, 1872 in Alabama. She was married twice and twice widowed.
  In 1900 she was is shown on the census as a widow that had been married 10 years and had five children with all five living. Those children were by her first marriage to Wyley Marcus Maddix. Then she had eight children in her second marriage to Thomas Edward Bowling. He died at the young age of 41 in 1926 and in 1934 her son James Lee and his wife Eula were murdered in their shop/home and she became the legal guardian of their six living children.
  The place of her birth remains unverified, however, in 1920 and 1930 she was living in Alabama City and in 1944 she died in Alabama City.
