SAM ROW BLANKENSHIP
Sam Row Blankenship, 87, died Tuesday of a stroke at Community Care and Rehabilitation Center in Riverside. No public services are planned.
Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary in Riverside is handling arrangements.
Mr. Blankenship, who was born in Jamestown, Russell, Kentucky, lived in Riverside for 44 years. He worked for the Naval Ordinance Lab in Norco as an electronics technician for 27 years before retiring in 1972.
He served in the U.S. Navy for five years before being discharged in 1945 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
Mr. Blankenship was a member of the Masons, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the First United Methodist Church in Riverside, as well as a tour guide for the American Association of Retired Persons for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Lura, a daughter, Sharen Topham of Riverside, two grandchildren, and a brother, Charles of Kansas.
Date of death was not mentioned in the obituary. It was 31 December 1996.
