Blanks was a native of Denton County and spent his childhood at Aubrey. He became a member of the Baptist Church at the age of 14. He attended high school at Pilot Point and was graduated from Texas A&M in 1937.
Blanks moved to Dallas and was associated with Blanks Engraving Company until he entered the Marine Corps in 1943 He was a member of the Fifth Division.
Surviving are his wife, of Dallas; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Blanks of Aubrey; four brothers, Roy Blanks, Herman Blanks, Francis Blanks, and Laverne Blanks, all of Dallas; and three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Bailey and Mrs. J. E. Williams, both of Dallas, and Mrs. L. L. Zimmerman of Edna, Jackson County.
