Frieda Lundblad was born October 9, 1922 in Milan, Wisconsin, the daughter of Herman and Johanna Irma (Abits) Venice. She grew to womanhood in that area and on June 26, 1948, was united in marriage to Arthur J. Sundblad.
The couple lived in St. Paul where Frieda worked as a nursing assistant until they moved to Alexandria in 1977. Frieda was a life-long member of the Assembly of God Church and served as a Sunday school teacher and with the Women's Missionary Council. She was known for her sewing, cooking and baking as well as her love to play games, especially Scrabble.
Frieda died April 5, 2000 at the Regions Hospital in St. Paul, at the age of 77. She is survived by her six children: Joyce and husband Charlie Hallquist of Osakis; James and wife Mia Lundblad of Manteca, CA; David Lundblad of Duluth; Carol and husband Bart Douglas of Cottage Grove; Marilyn and husband Al Peterson of Farwell; Melody and husband Randy Thoen of Alexandria; brothers: Marin Venzke of California; Loren Venzke of Athens, Wisconsin; 24 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant children; one granddaughter; and brothers Ernest and Alvin.
Funeral services were held April 9, 2000 from the Living Waters Assembly of God Church in Alexandria with Rev. James Resa, Rev. John Venzke and Rev. Emmanuel Lundblad officiating. Pallbearers were Steven Venzke, Alan Venzke, Scott Wahoski, Bruce Wahoski Chris Leete, and Jesse Wilson. Entombment was in the Kinkead Cemetery Mausoleum. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home.
