My dad was US Marine Gunnery Sargent Jeff Thomas Barnett Sr, of the USMC who died January 16th 1971. When the moving wall came to Currituck in 2006 my son Jerome Timothy Barnett Jr, had just returned from Iraq. The Daily Advance did a story about him returning from a war around the same time the wall was coming and I had been contacted because I lived in Currituck. They assumed that my father was from Currituck. My father was from Oak Ridge Tennessee. We were living in Norfolk, Virginia when my father died. We moved to Currituck County North Carolina the summer of 1971. The only time he lived in NC was when my Brother and I were born in Cherry Point. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune Marne Corps base around 1959 - 1963. Thank you for all that you are doing to keep memories of men like my father alive.

To my hero: We will always wonder why you were taken from us and wonder what you would be like in your old age. Your Legacy is living on in all of your children and grandchildren. We all Love you and we know that you and mama are finally together again. Your will live on forever in our memories. WE LOVE AND MISS YOU DADDY! Your number four son Jerome Barnett, 108 Ratcliffe Rd, Moyock, NC 27958.
