Duane Legrange Tyler (1837-1934) served as a private in the Second Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery. He spent most of the war in the defenses of the federal capital and on the front lines at Petersburg, Va. After the war he moved west. In 1930 he entered the National Military Home in Los Angeles, where he died of heart trouble four years later.
