Anna( Ann )America or (Americus) Bacon was the daughter of Alfred C. Bacon and Emily Emma Stubbs. She was born in Dec. 3, 1846 and died in on April24, 1914 in Appling County GA in the part that is now Bacon County. She was 67 years old.


In 1860 she married Aaron Wiley Dowdy, who was killed in 1863 at Gettysburg during the War Between the States. They had one son together, Aaron Dowdy, Jr., born in 1862. After the death of her first husband, Anna married Jonathan D. Barnard in Tattnall County, GA in 1869. They had the following children:
