Margaret E. Kendall

Margaret Ellen Kendall, 84, of Connersville died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

Born April 8, 1925, in Dallas, Texas, she was the daughter of A. Berchiel and Francis (Cowager) McGuire. She married Warren R. "Wimpy" Kendall on Jan. 29, 1961, and he survives.

Other survivors include her children, Marsha Fink of Portsmouth, Va., Susan (husband, David) Kronwall of Lake Geneva, Wis., Sherry (husband, Mike) Buresh of Berea, Ky., Liz (husband, Jay) Moser of Newwark, Del., and Matt (wife, Sharri) Kendall of Connersville; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Steve Kendall.

Mrs. Kendall moved to Connersville from Shelbyville five years ago.

She was a homemaker and worked part-time at Shelbyville's Girls Club many years ago.

Mrs. Kendall graduated from Shortridge High School in 1943 and studied under vocal coach Fred Jefferies at the Jordon Conservatory of Music.

She previously was a member of Shelbyville First Presbyterian Church for many years, where she sang in the choir.

While in Shelbyville, Mrs. Kendall participated with the Blue River Singers and volunteered at the Shelby County Crisis Pregancy Center. In Connersville, she was a member of A Dozen of Us Book and Literacy Club.

Mrs. Kendall sang with the U.S.O. during World War II.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nathan Wilson officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
