Mrs. Gladys Austin Allen, 84, of Douglasville, died August 29, 1999. She was born in Carroll County, August 2, 1915, daughter of the late James Roland (J.R.) Austin and the late Esther Townsend Austin. She was a homemaker and had worked in the textile industry. She was the oldest member of Liberty Baptist Church in Douglasville. She is survived by her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie (Janice) Christian of Alpharetta and her son, Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Carolyn) Brown of Rossville; sister, Mr. and Mrs. Grady (Evelyn) Langley of Douglasville; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two nephews. The funeral is tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home with Rev. Terry A. Marbut officiating. Visitation is today from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
