Born in Sabine County, Texas to Pink Smith and Susie Lilley (Cooper) Smith, he lived in the Orange area for fifty seven years. He was a machinist in the construction industry, he worked for Levingston Shipbuilding Company in Orange, Crumpler's Machine Shop in Bridge City and Austin Industries in Beaumont. He was an ordained minister with the full gospel church; he was a member of the New Anointing Church and had been a pastor with the Faith Harbor Church in Orange.
Reverend Smith was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict era, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, the gardening of vegetables and he enjoyed sharing his harvest with family friends and church family.
Preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Winona Lois Hamm, his sister, Hazel Rash and his brother, Donald Smith, those who will most cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty years, Lois Louise Smith; his daughter, Pam Jordan and her husband Kirk; his son, John Smith and his wife Donna; his sisters, Atrail Dohmann and Gladys Galloway; his brothers, Roy Smith and his wife Yvonne and Bobby Joe Smith and his wife Sherry; five grandchildren, Tonya Slaydon, Aaron Willis, Joshua Willis, Sean Willis and Jeremiah Jordan; two great grandchildren, Coby Slaydon and Tyler Slaydon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services at the New Anointing Church on North Highway 87 in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Edgar Hennigan, pastor of the church. Military Honors and Interment in Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in the McLewis community of Orange. Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.
