Jean Axmear, 66, Dies After Long Illness

Jean H. Axmear, 66, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1987 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, after a prolonged illness. Services were held Sunday, Feb. 1, 1987 at the Keswick United Methodist church. The Rev. Ron Clayton officiated. Music was provided by organist Mrs. Kenneth DeBont and soloist Richard Rohloff and the congregation.
Interment was in the Porter cemetery near Keswick. Casket bearers included the sons and sons-in-law: George Axmear, Malcom; David Axmear, Sigourney; Joe'd Axmear, North English; John Axmear, Keswick; Dennis Garns, Appleton, Wis; and Wayne Silver, Stuttgart, West Germany.
Jean Axmear was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Keokuk county, the daughter of Richard and Letha Wood Horras. She received her elementary and secondary education in Sigourney schools.
She married C. Maurice Axmear Oct. 7, 1938, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She was a member of the Keswick United Methodist church, United Methodist Women, Rebekah lodge, the Republican Women and was active in many community projects.
She is survived by her husband Maurice, two daughters; Evelyn Garns, Appleton, Wis., and Charlotte Axmear, Stuttgart, West Germany; four sons; George Axmear, Malcom; David Axmear, Sigourney; Joe'd Axmear, North English, and John Axmear, Keswick; 13 grandchildren: Jerry, John, Karen, Darci, Amney, Will, Jesse, Ellen, Diana, Pat, Andrew, Sharen and Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Daryn Axmear.
