*The above information was added by Lin. Thank you for all the work you put in here at FaG in your efforts to record the information on my family and other families to keep the memories alive of our honored dead who have passed this way before us.

Paternal Grandson of John & A. ____ ____-Bingham
Maternal Grandson of ______ & ______ ______-Majors

Son of John (b.1805 in Virginia) (FaG #145860702) & Elizabeth J. (b.1806 in South Carolina) (FaG #145859528) Majors-Bingham

Husband of Frances Julia Anna Coady-Bingham

Father of John Gideon "Gid" "J.G." Bingham (b.1884 in Tennessee)

Grandfather of L.E. Bingham (b.1926 in Tennessee)

Leonidas, fought in the Civil war. He entered the C.S.A. Army as a private in 1862 at the age of 22 and was a Corporal when he "mustered out" of the CSA Army in 1865.

On 3/16/2017 I found online records from a "1890 Census of Civil War Vets" that said that L. E. Bingham enlisted as a confederate soldier on 8/11/1861 with the Rank of Private; in company K; in regiment 27; in the Tennessee infantry; it did not list his discharge date or length of service.

He was known to be in the battle of Murfreesboro and possibly many others. Leonidas and Julia's brother (Ransom Coady) both served the South during the Civil War.

After the war ended Leonidas came back to Bath Springs and used his "muster out" money to build his two room (w/a breezeway) log home near the Tennessee River. His Granddaughter lived on that farm in Decatur County, Tennessee till her death about 2003.

Leonidas & Julia's farm in Bath Springs is very near the Tennessee River and the beautiful rock cliffs of the Tennessee river (Swallow Bluff) where the eagles nest on the ledges. It's a beautiful sight to behold.

**A VERY SPECIAL "THANK YOU!" to LIN. Thank you For allowing me to have care of my family member's memorial page. I consider it a great privilege to have care of my Great Grandpa Bingham's memorial page transferred to me. I am very honored that you have allowed me to manage his memorial page. Thanks, m.g.
