Daniel Enon Patterson (findagrave #27816630) was the illegitimate son of Winny Ann Shain and William Morgan Patterson. William was married to Susannah Shain....oldest child of James. William Morgan Patterson died of typhoid fever in Grayson County on August 13, 1845 at the age of 37 years, 1 month and 1 day. Traditionally his body was taken to the cemetery on a sled pulled by white horses and laid to rest beside his daughter, Sarah Josephine Patterson, who died on August 25, 1834. Ellis Payton carved his headstone. They are buried in the Old Shain Cemetery near Pine Knob, Grayson County, Kentucky. His widowm Susannah Shain Patterson, died 39 years later in Arpil of 1884 at the age of 73 plus years. She was buried in the Patterson Cemetery in Short Creek, Grayson County, Kentucky.
