Norma Bridgeman O'Grady


Hickory, N.C. - Norma Bridgeman O'Grady passed away Friday, May 29, 2009, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. O'Grady was born Dec. 19, 1924, in Greenville, Tenn., to the late Paul Lester Warddell and Katherine Leah King Warddell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Robert F. Bridgeman, James S. Hall and John T. O'Grady and two brothers, Paul and Fred Warddell.

Mrs. O'Grady was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church and retired from St. Stephens High School.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Debra Bridgeman Starnes and husband, Scotty, of Hickory and Kathy Bridgeman Brady of Hickory; a son and daughter-in-law, James R. (Jimmy) Bridgeman and wife, Margie, of Hickory; a sister, Betty Craig of Detroit, Mich.; grandchildren, Ricky Bridgeman, Kimberly Vanhorn, Kristy Sipe, Shannon Bolick, Shane Taylor, Bobby Throneburg, Jody Adams and Courtney Starnes; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Monday, June 1, 2009, at 5 p.m. at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. David Treadway officiating. Mrs. O'Grady will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends tonight, Sunday evening, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bass-Smith Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
