The body of Charles Stone, member of ambulance Corps No. 2 in the army of occupation, was buried with simple services in the family plot in Newbern cemetery Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock. The service was conducted by a minister who accompanied the family from Kenova, W. Va. The fact, of a belated notice the time of the arrival of the body could not be given due publicity, especially as it was desired to have as many of the men who had been in military service as possible attend. The body of this young American soldier was laid to its last rest just seventeen months to the day that he was claimed by death. He died of pneumonia in Germany where he had gone in the discharge of his duty as a member of the army of occupation. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Stone, former well known citizens of Pulaski county, who attended the funeral There, is also a sister. He was a nephew of C. B. Anderson, of Newbern, and W. W. Anderson of Saltville. He was 20 years of age. The body upon its arrival from overseas was first shipped to the family home at Kenova, W. Va., and from there was brought back by the family and friends to the family plot in Newbern cemetery where near kinsmen are buried.
