Anita C. Mitchell, 92, of Las Vegas, passed away May 28, 2009. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Annandale, N.J., March 12, 1917, and was a resident of Las Vegas for a period of four years.
Before retirement, she worked for the State of New Jersey as a lieutenant at the State Correctional Institution in Clinton, N.J.
Mrs. Mitchell was predeceased by her mother and father, Ida and Cyrus Manning; four siblings, Norman, Adolph and Donald Manning and Gloria Steinkopf. She was also predeceased her husband, Herman Mitchell; and daughter, Janis Hendley.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her daughter, Norma (Skip) Sciaretta of Las Vegas; son, David (Constance) Yetter of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Interment will take place at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Arneytown, N.J.
