Mrs. Scoggins, 93, Dies Saturday After Illness

MOULTON -- Mrs. Frances Scoggins, 93, a resident of Rt. 3, Town Creek, died at 8 a.m. Saturday at Colbert County Hospital after suffering a broken hip ten days ago in a fall.

She was a native of Walker County, but lived in Lawrence County since childhood. She was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Silas Lang and Rev. Tommy Davis officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Elliott Brown Service in charge.

She leaves two sons, H.B. Scoggins, Rt. 3, Town Creek, and A.P. Scoggins, Sr., Sheffield; three half sisters, Mrs. Betty Hallmark, Leighton, Mrs. Ludie Jeffreys, and Mrs. Belle Jeffreys, both of Rt. 1, Town Creek; two half brothers, Luther Vines of Russellville and Alger Vines of Courtland; 24 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
